Founded in 2020 in Oyugis, Kenya — TAKK is built on one powerful belief: every child, regardless of their start in life, deserves to be safe, educated, loved, and given the tools to build a future.

With near-zero overhead, every donation goes directly to the 46 children in our care — feeding them, healing them, schooling them, and helping them discover their gifts. Many live with HIV and come from deeply traumatic backgrounds.

The name "TAKK" means "Thank You" in Icelandic — reflecting the deep gratitude of the children for those who showed up to care.

"Babu" — Co-Founder & International Director

Babu — meaning "Grandfather" in Swahili — is the Icelandic heart behind TAKK. He co-founded the home in 2020, built the international donor network, and provides the financial leadership that keeps TAKK running and growing every year.

Mama is the Kenyan soul of TAKK — present every single day. She cooks, cares, guides and ensures every child feels safe and deeply loved. She manages all daily operations and is the first face every child sees each morning.
